Contractions already?

Well, Kyle and I had our first hospitalization this past Saturday. On Friday night I was at the football game and began to feel some contractions. I know all about Braxton Hicks and had discussed them with my Doctor, so I wasn't really worried. It was just a strange feeling. I went and talked to George at half time and then I just sat down and drank water and watched the rest of the game. After the game I was feeling them more often and then I got sick. We went home and I decided to just try and see if I could sleep through them. I was able too! I slept all night and got up Saturday to go to work. I figured work was the safest place for me...if I had problems I could just tell my Dr. and walk on over to L&D.
I worked Saturday until 11 am and then realized I was still feeling the contractions. They weren't painful, I just knew they were happening. So, I went over and had a friend put me on a monitor. To my surprise I was contracting every 3 minutes!
To make a long story short...they started me on Brethine, a medication that helps to stop the contractions. We got to go home later that night after they monitored us for awhile and did some blood work. Monday I followed up with my Dr. and she said everything is ok, because my cervix is still closed. As long as I don't start dilating then I will just continue the medication to keep the contractions under control. She did cut me back to only working 8 hour shifts at work now. Which, really is going to hurt our pocketbooks because my boss didn't give me any extra days to work on the schedule, which means I will only be working about 24 hours a week. Don't know yet what this will do to my benefits...still trying to find someone who knows. But, we will do anything we can to have a healthy baby. Please keep us in your prayers! I now will go to the Dr. once a week and my next appt is Monday Oct. 23rd.

It's hard not to worry, but TRY not to. I had contractions with Aiden for FIVE months!! I did start to dilate in October and he wasn't due till late Feb. I was at a 2 from November till January, then a 3 from then till I went into have him... everything worked out wonderfully! Just listen to your doctors, they know whats best. I had doctor appointments every week with my reg. OBGYN, and every two weeks with my high risk doctor - isn't having a baby fun!! LOL!! Keep us posted!!!

Also, you better run taking a long trip (to your shower) by your doctor - that car ride may not be a good idea.

All three of you are in our prayers!!!
